Thomas H. Handy Sazerac 2014

Thomas H. Handy Sazerac is part of the Buffalo Trace Antique Collection, BTAC.  The product is named after the New Orleans Bartender that created the Sazerac cocktail with rye whiskey.  Much like the George T. Stagg it is bottled directly from the barrel, unfiltered and uncut with water.

The nose, surprisingly doesn’t ‘bark’ at you despite the 129.2 proof; clove and vanilla shine through.  The taste is bold and lush because it is straight from the barrel with candied fruit, maple and spice.  The finish is smooth and long with a subtle amount of spice.

A surprisingly smooth and delicious pour for a high proof rye. Find, enjoy and repeat.
