Nothing will make him feel more like 007 quite like this smart fingerprint doorknob. I actually own two different fingerprint doorknobs, this being one of them. Not only can you program up to 20 different fingerprints; great for letting in babysitters, dog walkers, in-laws, etc. But you can also control it via the app so if you’re unloading groceries from your car you can unlock the door before you even get there.
I found this pretty easy to install as well. The brand claims you can install it in minutes, which technically is true, but probably took me 30 minutes in total. I personally use mine for my front door, but it’s also made for other rooms inside your house where you want to be able to lock and unlock with your fingerprint or via the app.
I also own a similar one from KiwiSet and while KiwiSet’s was slightly more expensive, I found theirs a bit easier to install and it looks a bit nicer. If you don’t care about the overall look of this one (it’s a bit basic) you can’t beat the price and the features for the price. Finding one under $100 is pretty unheard of.
My only real gripe is that you need 4 AAA batteries, which may not seem like a big deal but if you’re using it regularly from a front or back door that gets lots of traffic you may need to replace the batteries often. Like, a lot. Once a month for me.

I recently upgraded my home with the Amazon Smart Thermostat, and I gotta say, it’s really a straightforward switch from my old traditional thermostat that also promotes energy efficiency.
One of the standout features is the automatic comfort adjustment. Alexa takes over the programming duties, updating the temperature settings to ensure you’re always comfortable without lifting a finger. If you prefer a hands-on approach, the Alexa app allows you to control the temperature from anywhere, which is pretty great, especially if you want to get your home nice and toasty warm before you get home in the winter, or nice and cool before you get home in the summer.
Installation is user-friendly with step-by-step guidance provided through the Alexa app, and customer service is readily available if you run into any issues. I used to have the Nest thermostat and while I liked it I didn’t really use most of its features and it wasn’t compatible with one of the zones in my house. This thermostat form Amazon is built on reliable Honeywell Home Thermostat Technology, backed by over 130 years of experience.
Once you buy it Amazon will send you an email detailing available rebates from local energy providers, which can be a nice bonus to offset the initial cost. This thermostat is ENERGY STAR certified, and according to EPA estimates, it could save you about $50 annually on your energy bills.
My only additional advice is to perform the compatibility check before you buy just in case this doesn’t work with your home. It can happen depending on the age of your house.

For most this will continue to work seamlessly without interruption, but after reading more than 100 reviews, I noticed that some had to deal with it spacing out (aka, not working) and all they had to do was reset it. It’s a bit on the heavier side, weighing in at a little over 3 lbs, but this is a pretty professional mic especially based on the low price. My only gripe is that if he’s upgrading from a really low quality mic this one may take a little getting use to. It’ll really pick up background noise and will make bumps into the mic sound even louder.
