As you might have guessed from the name, the Willett 11 Year Family Estate Bottled Single Barrel Bourbon is not blended. Each bottle is from a unique barrel and, since each barrel can have different tasting notes, a review is less helpful unless you can track down a bottle from the particular barrel that is the subject of this review – Barrel No. 823. I don’t normally add water to taste but, with the bourbon being at 128.2 proof, some water goes a long way to coax out all the flavors.
The nose is spicy and boozy with sweet carmel and vanilla hints. The taste is fruity with maple shining though. The finish is spicy to start and transitions into carmel with a woody finish.
I really enjoyed this product, it has a very mature taste, even more so than its 11 year vintage.
