Barnes & Noble doesn't issue promo codes. There's no code box trick to learn here, because every discount it runs comes off by itself at checkout.
What it has instead is a paid membership worth 10% off almost everything, a free rewards scheme, a deep clearance section and a run of category sales at 15% to 30% off.
Everything below is checked against B&N's own pages, and each product card says whether the item ships now or is a pre-order.
Active Barnes & Noble offers, October 2026
Premium costs $39.99 a year and takes 10% off almost everything on the B&N site and in its stores, including Paper Source. It also drops the free shipping line from $60 to $15, adds 10% off NOOK devices and accessories, and comes with a tote each membership year worth up to $24.99. B&N says the 10% applies on top of sale prices.
The free Rewards tier gives you one stamp for every $10 you spend, and 10 stamps turn into a $5 reward. Ebooks and audiobooks count toward it. Premium includes Rewards, so you don't need both.
Free standard shipping starts at $60. B&N works that minimum out after other discounts and coupons are applied, so a heavily reduced basket can fall under it. Premium members get free standard shipping from $15.
B&N advertises store pickup as ready in two hours, which sidesteps the shipping threshold entirely if there's a branch near you. Stock is per store, so the item page tells you which branches have it.
Clearance is the deepest discount B&N runs. We found reductions up to 55% off on items you can still buy online, though plenty of clearance listings turn out to be store only, so check the item says in stock before you plan around it.
B&N runs a standing 30% off its hardcover bestseller list, covering both fiction and nonfiction. The discount shows in the price rather than needing anything entered.
The paperbacks selection runs up to 15% off, and it's where the B&N Exclusive editions sit. Those exclusives are often cut further than the standard paperback.
The Criterion promotion takes 30% off a selected list of 4K and Blu-ray titles. Worth knowing before you plan a weekend around one: most of the titles in it are upcoming releases you pre-order rather than discs that ship today.
B&N picks a set of albums each month and takes 25% off them, in its stores and online. The list turns over monthly, so it's worth a look if you buy vinyl.
The NOOK Tablet 10.1 charging dock is $15.72 down from $34.95, saving $19.23. It's in stock and ships in one to two days, and it's the deepest in stock cut we found anywhere on the site.
Michael Connelly's next Bosch novel is half price at $16 from $32, on the hardcover, and B&N says the same 50% comes off the ebook once it's in your cart. It's a pre-order, out on October 27, 2026.
The B&N Exclusive edition of Cooking with Marshmello is $14.99 instead of $29.99, saving $15. In stock and shipping in one to two days.
The Grade 1 Spectrum Learning Library is $17.49 down from $34.99, saving $17.50. It's a clearance workbook set that's still in stock online, which is rarer than it sounds.
The B&N Exclusive paperback of See You Yesterday is $7.99 from $12.99, saving $5. In stock, and the cheapest book on this page.
The Complete Kubrick 4K box from Criterion is $419.99 instead of $599.99. That $180 is the biggest single saving on this page by a wide margin. It's a pre-order, out on October 20, 2026.
Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein on 4K is $41.99 from $59.99, saving $18. Another pre-order, out on October 27, 2026.
How Barnes & Noble promo codes work
They don't, and that's the useful thing to know. B&N runs a page of its own called Coupons and Deals, and there isn't a single code on it. Every discount it advertises is already in the price or comes off in the cart.
The nearest thing to a permanent discount is Premium Membership. At $39.99 a year it takes 10% off almost everything, and B&N states on its product pages that the 10% lands on top of a sale price rather than instead of it. The free Rewards tier gives stamps instead, at $5 back for every 10 stamps.
B&N also runs its own Mastercard, which advertises a $25 gift card after a first purchase, 5% back on B&N and Paper Source spending and a year of Premium after qualifying spend. That's a credit application rather than a coupon, and the benefits depend on approval, so we've left it off the list above.
If a site offers you a Barnes & Noble coupon code, treat it with suspicion. B&N hasn't published one, and its own deals page lists sales rather than codes.
How to get the best price at Barnes & Noble
- Start in clearance, because that's where the deepest cuts are.
- Check the item says in stock online. A lot of clearance listings are store only, and the price looks live right up until you try to buy it.
- Work out whether Premium pays for itself. At $39.99 a year, the 10% covers the fee once you spend about $400, and the free shipping and tote sit on top.
- If you're not a member, build the order past $60 so shipping is free, or collect it in store instead.
- Don't go hunting for a code. B&N doesn't issue them, and you'll only find expired or invented ones.
