Even though by all accounts in the music world the following songs probably have reached their expiration date, I can’t stop listening.
Rude by Magic
With it’s intoxicating reggae beat it transports you to a white sandy beach. The lyrics are cute and don’t require any emotional commitment so it’s perfect listening for that vacation feeling.
Sleeping with a friend by neon trees
As a child of the 80’s, I love anything that makes me feel young again and neon trees has that electro -80’s sound wrapped up.
Pompeii by Bastille
I’m not that familiar with Bastille, but when that “Eh-eh-o eh-o” catchy refrain starts, I can’t help but sing along. Something about the song too makes me feel like I have some type of superhuman Greek mythology strength. Weird, I know but definitely helpful in the gym. Does anyone get this vibe too?
Birthday by Katy Perry
Even though she has the tween audience wrapped around her fingers (of which I’m not a part of), I do find myself amused by this song. Especially during the bridge where Katy does her best Marilyn Monroe impression. I am always amazed by Perry’s ability to create simple addictive hooks to her songs.
Sing by Ed Sheeran
There is something about the bass line in this song during the refrain that along with the catchy beat, I can’t help but turn up the volume. Not to mention the video has a funny Muppets vibe with a puppet that looks like Sheeran taking the nightlife scene by storm. Definitely amusing.
