Take THAT all you happy couples out there! A Japanese restaurant has taken a stand on couples coming to dine in their establishment on Christmas Eve. The owner of PiaPia, a restaurant in Tokyo, has placed a handwritten sign in the window of his restaurant that says,
We will be refusing entry to all couples on December 24, with no exceptions!”
The owner claims that couples happiness will negatively impact the emotional state of his single patrons, making them “feel lonely on Christmas.” Moreover he feels that this “would cause severe emotional trauma to members of our staff.”
As you can see the handwritten cardboard sign includes your favorite bathroom sign outline man and woman with a giant crayon red “x” placed over their bodies to let you know “No! You two holding hands, outta here!” Personally, I like how the owner apparently spellchecked himself by drawing a red squiggly line under the date. Once again, smarter than me.
Overall I say “bravo!” I don’t need couples, or anyone ‘happy’ for that matter, flaunting their “togetherness” in my face as I try to wolf down my food. I hope this starts a trend. Ban ’em in restaurants first and then sidewalks next!
