Michter’s released their Barrel Strength Rye in limited quantities. You can tell the year of the release by the barrel number tag on the neck, 2015 bottles start with ’15’. This particular barrel is bottled at 54.7% ABV.
Michter’s takes the US*1 Rye straight from the barrel and enable us to sample it without adding any water. The nose is very sweet with both vanilla and carmel showing through. The taste starts out with carmel but warms with some spice. The peppery, rye notes dominate the finish.
A surprisingly smooth taste for a high proof rye. If you are a rye fan, do everything you can to track down this delicious bottle of rye.
