We love Aveda – always have. We’ve been shopping their products since the 90’s, and we’re still going strong. When we were first introduced to their products long ago, we immediately made the switch. A refreshing shampoo and conditioner, a styling product that held up to humidity, and a lip balm that moisturized and protected was our jumping off point, – and since then, they’ve come a long way, with so many more products for every hair and skin type. What Is It?
As we mentioned above, Aveda has been around for a while now. They offer hair care, skin care, body care, makeup, and aroma products that are 100% vegan – always. They also feature a men’s line of care, so if you’re shopping for the guy in your life, they have an amazing line of products. When it comes to hair care, they have so many products for so many hair types. Shop for dry and damaged hair, curly hair, hair loss, color treated hair, or natural hair. And if you’re not 100% sure where to begin, you can start with their hair and scalp quiz, and narrow down which products will be most beneficial. Even though we’ve been using this brand for a while, we gave the quiz a whirl and were surprised to find some new products we’re excited to try, based on their recommendations.
Another thing worth mentioning is their commitment to planet earth. Ingredients are naturally derived – which means more than 50% of the molecule comes from a plant, non-petroleum mineral, water, or some other natural source, and are certified organic. They are also sourced from sustainable or renewable plant origins. They are also the first beauty company using 100% post consumer recycled PET. As a result, more than 85% of their skin care and hair styling PET bottles and jars contain 100% post consumer recycled materials.
And we definitely can’t talk about this line and not mention the smell. So good. At first we thought, maybe it’s just us. We’ve been using it for so long, that there’s a sense of nostalgia every time we get a whiff. And with scent being tied so closely to memory, it just makes us happy! But then we saw that it’s definitely a “thing.” So much so, that there’s a hashtag dedicated solely to their scent. Shout out to #smellslikeaveda. They have an in house botanical aroma lab, and that amazing smell is pure flower and plant essences.
