Hold on to your dueling side buns and 80’s fantasies boys…there are rumors swirling around that Disney may be saying “all done” to Princess Leia’s gold bikini. The gold two piece, worn by Slave Leia in Return of the Jedi, could be phased out…in other words, the iconic metal ensemble would no longer be used in “Star Wars” films going forward, or included in any merchandise being sold. I have some questions. First and foremost, does this mean that the one worn by Carrie Fisher (which I think, she hates) will be on display at the Smithsonian? I would think this would be on the same level as Fonzi’s jacket, Archie Bunker’s chair and Dorothy’s Ruby Slippers (which, are surprisingly not as dazzling as you would think, in person). Second, are we basically saying that this bikini is unacceptable….BUT millions women posting pictures of themselves on Instagram, half-naked on a yacht in Dubai with “hashtag blessed” is ok? Interesting. We’ll have to see how this all shakes out.
