Weller Special Reserve Bourbon

Buffalo Trace gave their brand Weller a new look for their their Weller 12 Year, Weller Antique 107 and Weller Special Reserve.  You can see the old versions here for Weller 12 Year, Weller Antique 107 and Weller Special Reserve.  I hadn’t stumbled upon these in some time and now I am seeing them quite often so I decided to give the Weller Special Reserve a taste, also known as the ‘Green Label’.

The nose is toasty but sweet with vanilla and caramel.  The taste is starts sweet with the caramel and vanilla punch but is balanced with hints of grain.  The finish is warm, smooth and sweet.  That sweetness is likely attributed to the wheated nature of this bourbon which I love.

If you can find a bottle grab it, it is not expensive, delicious and will make you nostalgic for the way bourbon used to and should be made.
