Four Roses Bourbon 1970s

You will hear people say that they don’t make bourbon like they used to.  Take a few sips of this Four Roses from the 1970’s and you will not believe you are drinking a $20 bottle of bourbon.  This particular variety would have been their straight off the shelf variety, aged for 6 years, but tastes much more mature.

The nose is sweet with caramel and orange notes.  The taste is also sweet mixing with the spicy, vanilla flavors.  The finish is balances with some oak balancing out the sweet notes.  If I could go back to the 70’s I would buy a case – a really delicious pour.
