The Martini was the first real cocktail I started to make at home. Most bartenders will tell you it should be stirred NOT shaken. But 007, I’m totally with you on this one. The real secret to a great Martini is shaking. Why? Because a cold Martini is a good Martini. There is nothing worse than a slightly cold Martini. That’s why I recommend shaking. Added bonus, you look cool when you shake a cocktail.
Recipe:
4 oz. Vodka or Gin
1 oz. Dry Vermouth
Ice
Combine and shake vigorously. When you think you’ve shaken enough, add 5 more shakes and then you’re good.  Strain and empty into a martini glass. I’m sorry, but it’s not a martini if it’s in a rocks glass. There is absolutely nothing wrong with a Martini glass. It’s made perfectly so your Martini stays nice and cold. And make sure to strain well.  Tiny shards of ice will ruin the experience and water down the cocktail. Add a twist of lemon to garnish.  And just say no to olives.
