I have been vocal about my love of Orin Swift’s Machete, reviewed here. Abstract is equally dark and purple in color; a mixture of Napa, Sonoma, and Mendocino Grenache, Petite Sirah, and Syrah primarily from hillside vineyards. Aged for 10 months in both new and seasoned French Oak barrels.
The nose is is packed with dark fruits and herb overtones. The flavor is juicy with with ripe berries shining through. The finish is smooth and long with very subtle tannins at the end.
A spectacular wine that is perfectly paired with cheese and wine after work, all the way through dinner.
