Why I’m Inspired By Joan Lunden’s People Magazine Cover

Starting off the morning with a little inspiration.  Former Good Morning America host, Joan Lunden, had revealed back in June that she was diagnosed with breast cancer after it was caught during her yearly mammogram.  Today she’s brought her positive attitude to the cover of People Magazine (on sale Sept 26th) and made the courageous decision to be photographed completely bald after rounds of chemotherapy.

Even though she just made it out of surgery yesterday she called into the Today Show this morning to talk with Hoda Kotb (a cancer survivor) and Matt Lauer about her bold decision to go bald on the cover and said:

I worried about what my kids would think…but I knew it was the right decision…I wanted to show that your heath is more important than your hair.”

Joan will be on the Today Show starting next week as a special correspondent during National Breast Cancer Awareness Month for October. Joan may just be one woman, but she represents everyone’s mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, daughter, niece, wife and friend and her decision, great attitude and fight to beat this is a great example for everyone.  Wishing Joan great health.
