OUR BEST HUMIDOR WINNERS
PROS
- Holds up to 50 cigars
- 9 different wood finishes to choose from
- Glass top so you can see what's inside
CONS
- Some say the hydrometer isn't always accurate
For me the price was really attractive since me and my friends are only social cigar smokers and not aficionados. I didn’t really need a humidor that stored 100+ cigars, so this desktop option that stores between 25 – 50 worked best for me.
I found that it really held about 35 regular sized cigars easily. If you have extra long cigars or other odd sizes I don’t think you’re going to be able to fit 50 in there.
Outside of the price I liked the feel of the outside of the humidor that was a clean and cool cherry finish. When opening up the humidor I got a nice whiff of Spanish cedar, which is always a favorite of mine.
Personally, I haven’t had a problem with the hydrometer, but after reading some reviews, some people felt like it wasn’t always totally accurate. In that case, some bought a digital hygrometer, but I haven’t needed one yet.
SPECS:
- TYPE: Desktop humidor
- CAPACITY: 25 - 50 cigars
- DIMENSIONS: 10.25" W x 8.75" D x 4.5" H
- MATERIALS: Cherry finish (exterior), Spanish cedar (interior)
PROS
- Holds up to 50 cigars
- Scratch resistant interior, which is helpful
- Removable cedar divider so you can organize
CONS
- Instructions were a bit confusing to understand
Another great option for the price – since this humidor holds up to 50 cigars as well. I found it helpful that there was a cedar divider inside that I was able to easily remove so I could organize my cigars better – especially by type.
When comparing it to the Ducihba I mentioned above, I found the feel of the wood on the outside of the Mantello to be not as smooth and the color seemed a little bit off from what I saw online. Not a deal breaker, but just a heads up.
The glass top is helpful to see what’s inside without having to keep opening it as a good way to keep your cigars at just the right humidity level.
The only part that I found aggravating was the instructions that came with it. I didn’t really find them helpful and was surprised at the typos that were inside. Again, not a huge deal but I was thinking “How did no one proof this?!”
But, again, for the price you can’t really go wrong.
SPECS:
- TYPE: Desktop humidor
- CAPACITY: 25 - 50 cigars
- DIMENSIONS: 10.2 W x 8.6 D x 4.3 inches H
- MATERIALS: Rosewood finish (exterior), Spanish cedar (interior)
PROS
- Holds up to 150 cigars
- You can adjust the thermostat yourself
- The shelves are removable so you can stack
- Comes with 2 removable drawers - good for boxes
CONS
- Slight odor when taking out of the box (goes away)
- While sleek, it's a bit long so can't fit everywhere
Full disclosure on this one; I didn’t buy it. But that’s only because I don’t have the room or need for a stand alone humidor that can hold up to 150 cigars. However, my brother-in-law has this one and I was able to take a look at it and talk to him about it.
It’s actually sleeker than it looks online, but is a bit on the taller side. So if you want to put it anywhere you really should check the measurements first. The good news is that Wayfair offers two different sizes to choose from.
Now when it comes to the look of it, I found it to look pretty cool and kind of official. It’s almost like a mini refrigerator, but solely for your favorite cigars. The interior is wooded and comes with two removable shelves and two drawers as well. So you can easily fit all sorts of cigars inside, whether you want to take them all out individually, store them in their box, stack them – you name it.
Compared to the two desktop humidors above, I was able to smell the cedar inside so much more, not in a bad way. Just a really nice fragrance if that’s your thing. I was also able to easily adjust the temp (so reviews online had a tougher time working it, but I didn’t find any trouble at all).
Just a friendly reminder that it’s electric, so you have to make sure where you want to place it has an electrical outlet nearby. When it was empty I was able to easily pick it up and move it around (it’s about 25 lbs).
My brother-in-law’s only real gripe was when he took it out of its packaging when he first got it. He said there was a slight odor to it, but once he wiped it clean he said it wasn’t long before that odor went away. Just good to know!
SPECS:
- TYPE: Stand Alone
- CAPACITY: 150 cigars
- DIMENSIONS: 20'' H X 10'' W X 17.8'' D
- MATERIALS: Metal (exterior), Wood (interior)
PROS
- Perfect for travel (holds up to 4 cigars)
- Comes with a cool cigar lighter for free
- Leather exterior feels buttery soft and smooth
CONS
- Zipper got stuck when trying to fit more than 4
- The free cutter felt a little cheap to me
I gave this one as a gift to one of my buddies for his bachelor party and he loved it. Before I wrapped it up I was able to play around with it and while there aren’t a lot of bells and whistles it was still a really cool travel humidor case.
It says it holds up to 4 cigars, but based on the size I was able to fit 6. Some reviewers stated they could fit up to 8, but when I tried the zipper got jammed. So, stick to the 4 and maybe toss in an extra one or two to test – just be careful of the zipper.
Even though it’s small I feel like they did a great job with the interior, especially since it’s cedar wood. I got a nice scent of cedar every time I unzipped it and opened it up. The outside of the case is a nice soft and buttery leather that feels so smooth against my hand. I actually think it looks really cool carrying it around – whether hitting the links, taking it to the beach, a BBQ or wherever really. It’s pretty light to carry too, weighing in at just about 1lb.
At the time that I bought it it came with both a free lighter and cigar cutter. I thought the lighter was actually really nice and didn’t feel cheap at all. If I bought that in a store, I bet it would have been at least $20. On the other hand, the cigar cutter seemed a little cheap to me. Not a deal breaker however, but good for you to know.
SPECS:
- TYPE: Travel humidor (case)
- CAPACITY: 4 cigars
- DIMENSIONS: 8.27 x 5.31 x 2.6 inches
- MATERIALS: Leather (exterior), Cedar wood (interior)
PROS
- Holds up to 40 cigars
- 100% waterproof up to 100 feet deep
- Floats on water
- Great for the boat, beach, lake, or pool
CONS
- The look is pretty basic
- No cedar scent (no wood inside)
If you ever wanted to really put your humidor to the test, this is the one for you. The case itself is actually crush-proof (I watched a video of a Jeep Wrangler riding over it!) and can hold up to 40 cigars.
The interior is just a basic urethane foam, but it holds each cigar well and protects it. If you’re looking for something with that cedar scent, don’t go with this one. I did smell a little something with the urethane foam, but once I placed some cigars inside I noticed that the foam sent went away after a day or two. It’s almost like when you get a mattress for the first time you can smell it a little.
What I loved best about this humidor is that it’s totally waterproof (it can even float) so I can bring it to the beach, out on the lake, on the boat, etc without having to worry about the humidor getting damaged by water.
SPECS:
- TYPE: Molded plastic Travel humidor
- CAPACITY: 40 cigars
- DIMENSIONS: 2.25 x 10.25 x 5.5 inches
- MATERIALS: Plastic (exterior), foam (interior)
PROS
- Holds up to 250 cigars
- Keeps perfect humidity
- Doesn't vibrate when cooling
- Cedar shelves are removable
CONS
- Expensive
- Some reviewers struggled with hydrometer
I had to add this one in because if you’re a huge cigar smoker with tons of cigars you’ll want to check this one out. It actually can hold up to 250 cigars! However, many reviews that I read claimed they could actually fit more than the 250, which is pretty much amazing.
A big plus of this one is that the whole thing doesn’t vibrate and shake when cooling, whereas some other similar brands do rattle a bit.
While I find this to be pretty expensive (almost $300 at time of publication) at least you can get it shipped for free via Wayfair.
Personally, I think this makes a great splurge gift for the cigar lover in your life, whether it’s your dad, husband, wife – whomever.
