image If you’re like me (lazy) and looking for something simple (shortcut) to put together (for the kids?), these candy covered marshmallow Legos are easy to do.  Truth be told, I didn’t have the drive to make them out of cake pops and it’s way easier to open a  couple of bags of marshmallows.  Check it out…

You’ll need:

  • A bag of regular size marshmallows
  • A bag of mini marshmallows
  • A bag of lollipop sticks
  • A bag of yellow candy melts
  • A black cake pen
  • Styrofoam block (optional for drying the pops upright)

How to Make Marshmallow Lego Pops:

1.  Melt a bag of of yellow candy melts, ex: Wilton. (Tip: add a splash of vegetable oil to the melts before melting them. This helps to thin them out, making them easier to work with) Microwave and stir in 30 second intervals.

2.  Insert a lollipop stick into a regular size marshmallow (Tip: dip the top of the stick into the melted candy, then insert the candy end into the marshmallow. As the candy hardens it will help to keep the stick in place)

3.  Cut mini marshmallows in half to use on top of the Lego head (Tip: spritz your knife with cooking spray before cutting. This way, the marshmallow won’t stick to the knife). Dip the cut end into the melted candy and stick it to the top of the regular size marshmallow.  Sort of like glueing it on.  Let it dry.

4.  Dip the entire pop into the yellow melted candy. Tap off the excess and spin it a bit to get it smooth.  Let it dry. (Tip: insert the stick into a styrofoam block so they dry upright)

5.  Once dry, draw the faces on with a cake pen.  I picked one up in the baking aisle at the grocery store.  I went with the old standby Lego smiley face as anything beyond that is a little aggressive.  And there you have it!
